Farewell to tribals attending R-Day celebrations in Delhi

Mysuru: Two tribals, namely Vasanthi (Malekudiya tribal) of Nellikaru village in Mangaluru taluk of Dakshina Kannada district and Krishnappa Maravanthe (Gowdalu) of Kalasa Post, Mudigere taluk, Chikmagalur district, who are selected to represent the State from Tribal communities at the Republic Day (R-Day) celebrations in New Delhi on Jan.26, were given farewell at a programme organised at Kannada State Tribal Research Institute (KSTRI) in Kuvempunagar here recently.

KSTRI Deputy Director S. Prathiba will accompany the two as the Contact Officer at the R-Day celebrations.

KSTRI Director T.T. Basavanagowda and other officials were present during the farewell prog.

Every year, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, invites two tribals (ST) from every State of the Country as guests for the R-Day celebrations at New Delhi on Jan.26.

This year Vasanthi of DK and Krishnappa Maravanthe of Chikmagalur have been selected to take part.
