May 6, 2017

H.D. Kote: Deeply pained over being cheated by fellow agents, a farmer committed suicide by injecting as well as consuming poison at Padukote Kaval village in the taluk yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Prabhakar (45), a resident of Padukote Indiranagar in the town. Prabhakar, a banana cultivator, had supplied bananas grown in his farmland to Kerala through agents by name Hasan and Suhail of Kannur district. But the two agents are said to have cheated him to the tune of Rs. 18 lakh by not paying for the banana that Prabhakar had supplied. Rejected over being cheated, Prabhakar reportedly injected and consumed poison at his farmland yesterday afternoon and died.

A death note has been found in his person, it is learnt.

The H.D. Kote Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
