Farmer found dead: Villagers suspect tiger attack

January 22, 2022

H.D. Kote: A farmer, who had taken his cattle for grazing, was found dead and the villagers have suspected that he may have been killed in a tiger attack.

The deceased farmer is Marigowda (70), a resident of Kothanahalli (Hirehalli B. Colony) in the taluk. On Friday, Marigowda had taken his cattle for grazing to his agricultural field and it is suspected that a tiger attacked him while he was on his way back in the evening.

Forest Department and Police personnel, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar during which they found no wounds on the body. They later shifted the body to H.D. Kote General Hospital for post-mortem. The exact reason for Marigowda’s death would be known only after receiving the post-mortem report.

Villagers demand compensation: Meanwhile, the villagers have demanded the officials to provide compensation to the family members of deceased Marigowda. They said that though there are no wounds on the body, Marigowda may have died when he came face-to-face with the tiger.

Metikuppe RFO Santosh Hugar, D.B. Kuppe RFO Madhu, DRFO Antony Swamy, Circle Inspector Anand, Antharasanthe Sub-Inspector Jayaprakash, staff of Forest and Police Departments were present.
