Farmer loses Rs. 1.76 lakh

October 3, 2026

Mysuru: Cyber criminals, who made a farmer install a mobile app, have cheated the farmer of Rs. 1.76 lakh through the app.
The farmer, who lost his money, is Mahesh (name changed), a resident of Marchahalli village in K.R. Nagar taluk. The cyber criminals withdrew a total of Rs. 1,76,750 in phases.
Farmer Mahesh began receiving messages about cash withdrawal from the bank. Mahesh, who saw the messages the next day, called the bank and blocked his account thus saving the remaining money in his account.
On inspecting how money was withdrawn from Rajesh’s bank account, ‘PM Kissan Yojan’ file was installed in Rajesh’s mobile phone and money was withdrawn through the file.
Rajesh had received One Time Password (OTP) several times on his mobile phone which he had neglected. But the cyber criminals managed to hack his mobile phone, secured the OTPs and using them, siphoned off money from Rajesh’s bank account.
A case has been registered at the District CEN Police Station.
