Mysore/Mysuru: Demanding cancellation of land allotted for building NIMHANS-like hospital at Gudumadanahalli in Varuna hobli in the district, farmers under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts, will be taking out a padayatra from Gudumadanahalli to Chief Minister’s office located at Zilla Panchayat office premises on Krishnaraja Boulevard in Mysuru city on May 15.
For the past 70 years, farmers belonging to 80 families were in the possession of 36 acres of land at Gudumadanahalli. Now, the Government has allotted the same land for NIMHANS-like hospital, opposing which farmers have gone on protest since the past 129 days at the same spot. Instead, the Government can realise its hospital plan at the lands available at Hosahundi and Immavu village in Varuna Assembly Constituency.
The Government, apart from revoking its order allotting land for NIMHANS-like hospital, should declare the same land as Green Zone to restore farming activities, the farmers have demanded.
Maj. Gen. (retd) S.G. Vombatkere, Samyukta Horata Karnataka leaders T. Yeshwanth, Noor Sridhar, Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) leaders Battaiah Kote and other leaders are expected to take part in the padayatra on May 15.
