Mysore/Mysuru: ”In an effort to encourage Agroforestery, the Forest Department has taken up various projects including distribution of tree saplings free of cost to the farmers,” said Mysuru Division Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) T. Hiralal.
He was speaking after inaugurating an interaction session with farmers on ‘Agroforestry’ organised by Forest Environment and Yoga Pratishtana in association with Social Forestry Division at Zoo auditorium, Mysuru Zoo premises, here recently.
“Farmers should include agroforestry in their farming practices. This would not only help save the environment but also help them lead healthier lives,” he said. Mysuru Zoo Executive Director Ajit Kulkarni; Horticulture Department Deputy Director Rudresh; Mysuru Division Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) Prashanth Kumar; DCF (Operations) Bhanuprakash; DCF (Wildlife) Alexander; DCF (Social Forestry) Sridhar and Asst. Conservator of Forests (Social Forestry) S.P. Mahadev were present.
On the occasion, Progressive Farmer Gautham Kadam, Handicrafts Association President S. Ramanna, Senior Journalist Amshi Prasanna Kumar and Industrialists Feroz Khan and Siraj Asgar Ali were felicitated.
