Farmer’s suicide: KRRS stages protest

Farmers demand Rs. 50 lakh compensation; DC assures of taking action after by-poll

Holding the Police responsible for the death of farmer Nagesh (30) of Kaggaladahundi  village in Gundlupet taluk, who consumed poison at Terakanambi Police Station on Mar. 24 and breathed his last at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru on Mar. 26, activists of KRRS and Kaggaladahundi villagers, staged a demonstration by placing Nagesh’s body in front of the District offices complex here on Tuesday.

As soon as Nagesh’s body arrived in an ambulance from Mysuru, the farmers urged the Police to allow them to place the body at the main gate of the complex. But as the Police refused to give permission, the KRRS activists entered into a wordy duel with the Police, even as the body lay in the ambulance.

Channannavar, following which the Police allowed the body to be kept at the main entrance of the District offices complex for 10 minutes.
