Mysore/Mysuru: Noted writer H.S. Sreenath said that Sir M. Visvesvaraya (Sir MV) not only served as an Engineer for decades but also worked as a researcher who strived for exploring something.
He was speaking at the 56th Engineers Day celebration organised at the Institution of Engineers, Mysore Local Centre on JLB Road here on Sept. 15.
Pointing out that Sir MV dreamt of seeing India’s growth in the automotive sector, Sreenath said that Sir MV is credited with installing the first automatic crest gate at Pune Dam. Sir MV had evolved plans for best use of water in dams decades ago.
Highlighting Sir MV’s contributions to the State as the Chief Engineer during the erstwhile Mysore rulers and subsequently as the Dewan of Mysore, he said that the great engineer is credited with the establishment of steel plant at Bhadravati and many other major industries and undertakings in the State. His administrative skills, ideals, honesty and indepth technical knowledge is a model to everyone.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra, who was the chief guest, felicitated achiever Engineers Ratan Babu, S. Bhargava, R.N. Mahalingegowda, H.M. Sujatha, B.P. Shivamurthy, Manoj Kumar, Suma and Rachana on the occasion.
The Institution of Engineers Mysore Local Centre Chairman B.S. Prabhakara, Hon. Secretary H.S. Suresh Babu, Hon. Joint Secretary Dr. R. Deepu, Convenor A.S. Satish, Co-Convenor K.B. Bhaskar and others were present.
