Felicitation marks Natl. Sports Day

Mysore/Mysuru: Co-operation and District in-Charge Minister S.T. Somashekar offered floral tributes to Major Dhyan Chand, a Hockey wizard on the occasion of his birth anniversary, which is celebrated as National Sports Day (Aug.29). At a function held at Chamundi Vihar Indoor Stadium, he offered flowers to the portrait of Major Dhyan Chand.

On this occasion, he felicitated R. Nagaraju (Tennis), K.V. Krishnamurthy (Table Tennis), G. Benakaprasad (Athletics), M.D. Muthappa (Hockey), Dr. Varsha S. Puranik (Skating), C. Dinesh (Sports Reporter), Dr. Pulakeshi Y. Shettappanavar, Deputy Director, Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore (UoM), in recognition of their contribution to sports.

MP Pratap Simha, MLA L. Nagendra and Asst. Director of Department of Sports and Youth Affairs K. Suresh were present.
