Felling of trees for road widening: Public meeting on June 20

Mysore/Mysuru: In order to take up road widening works on 400 mts left and right of the Black  Spot Id No-KA-(02)-355 near Mysuru-T. Narasipur Ring Road signal, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had sought the permission of Forest Department for felling of roadside trees.

Subsequently, the Forest Department staff, along with NHAI officials, carried out a joint survey, when it was found that a total of 99 trees have to be felled for road widening and rectification of the identified black spots.

As per Karnataka Preservation of Trees Act 8 (3) (VII) the Forest Department must seek public opinion if more than 50 trees are to be felled. 

Accordingly, the Forest Department has called a public meeting at Alanahalli Ring Road Junction on June 20 at 11 am during which  public can submit objections, if any. Public can also e-mail their objections through: [email protected].
