Fight over walking path leads to man’s murder

Mandya: A fight over the walking path between two neighbours led to one person killing another and seriously injuring two others at Nittur Hosadoddi village, Malavalli taluk in Mandya district last night. While the deceased has been identified as Nagaraju (55), the injured have been identified as 44-year-old Gowramma, wife of Nagaraju and son 23-year-old Narayanaswamy. The accused has been identified as Cheluvaraju.

The two neighbours Cheluvaraju and Nagaraju used to quarrel frequently. Yesterday too, wordy duel ensued between the two and Cheluvaraju, in a fit of rage, stabbed Nagaraju with a knife and assaulted him with a stick resulting in Nagaraju’s death.

Nagaraju’s wife Gowramma and son Narayanaswamy, who rushed to his help were also assaulted. Both were rushed to a hospital nearby.

Dy. SP Mallik, Circle Inspector Shivamallaiah and SI Sridhar, who rushed to the spot have taken the accused into custody.

Halagur Police have registered a case in this regard.
