DC holds meeting with Kannada film industry representatives in city

Mysuru: In the backdrop of Kannada film actors taking part in this year’s Jumboo Savari for the first time, as announced by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Dasara Special Officer and Mysuru DC G. Lakshmikanth Reddy held a meeting with the representatives of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) at the Zilla Panchayat meeting hall here this morning.

Presiding over the meeting, DC Lakshmikanth Reddy said that the Kannada film actors and famous sportspersons from the State will participate in the Jumboo Savari from the Mysore Palace premises during the Vijayadashami procession on Oct. 21.

The actors and sportspersons will be taken on the Ambari bus behind the Kannada Film Industry tableau till a designated place following which they will return to Mysore Palace.

Addressing the meeting, former MLC and KFCC President Jayamala said a tableau with information about the 93-year-old Kannada film industry will be showcased during the procession.

“About 30 famous Kannada actors and actresses will travel along the procession route and acknowledge their fans following which they will return to the Mysore Palace to witness the famous Jumboo Savari from the galleries,” she added.

Meanwhile, speaking to Star of Mysore, DC Lakshmikanth Reddy, who confirmed the participation of film actors, said that it would be difficult for the actors to take part in the entire procession.

“We are still in discussion with respect to the dropping point of the actors as their participation till the end could lead to a possible commotion during the Dasara procession,” he said.

KFCC former President Sa. Ra. Govind, Film producer Rockline Venkatesh, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, Mysuru SP Mallikarjun Baladandi, State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) Director Shaikh Tanveer Asif, KFCC members and other officials were present.
