Fire in ambulance; fuel leak, short circuit suspected

Mysore/Mysuru: Fire erupted at an ambulance belonging to a Govt. Hospital, near Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan on Dewan Seshadri Iyer Road in city yesterday afternoon, triggering tense moments for some time.

The ambulance belonging to Government General Hospital, Begur in Gundlupet taluk, Chamarajanagar district, was returning after shifting a patient to a private hospital here. Following the suspected leakage of diesel from the fuel tank, sparks of fire was noticed, along with short circuit in the electrical cables in the vehicle.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel in Saraswathipuram Fire Station, who were informed, rushed to the spot and doused the flames, averting what could have led to a major damage.
