Five arrested for dacoity and extortion

Gold chain, two-wheelers worth Rs. 4 lakh recovered

Mysuru: Alanahalli Police have arrested five persons on charges of committing dacoity and extortion and have recovered 19 gram gold chain and two bikes, all worth Rs. 4 lakh from them.

On Mar. 13 night, four to five persons, who barged into the house at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Nagar in Alanahalli Police limits, threatened those present in the house with lethal weapons, snatched a gold chain from one of them and had fled from the spot.

A case was registered at Alanahalli Police Station and a special Police team was formed to nab the accused and recover the stolen golden chain from them.

On Mar. 23, Alanahalli Police, who were on their regular patrolling, picked up three accused near Srirama Layout on Sri Raghavendraswamy Mutt on the outskirts of city and interrogated them. Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police took another accused into custody in Maddur and interrogated him. Based on the information provided by him, the Cops took the prime accused into custody on Mar. 27, when he was standing with a bike in front of a convention hall near Bhugathagalli Gate on Bannur Road.

The Police then recovered 19 gram gold chain and two bikes, all worth Rs. 4 lakh, from them. All the five accused have been remanded to Judicial Custody. It is learnt that all the accused have many cases registered against them.

Swarna, Sub-Inspector Gangadhar and staff Chethan, Kiran Rathod, Lingarajappa, Manjunath Gadagaigola, Mallikarjun, Santosh Kumar, Shaziya Banu, Abhishek, Automation Centre SI Chandrashekar Rao and staff Pradeep, Shivakumar and Technical Wing’s Kumar in the nabbing operation.
