Five arrested for murder

Accused avenged breaking of his teeth

Mandya:  K.M. Doddi Police have arrested five persons on charges of murdering a youth at Halagur Circle in K.M. Doddi of Maddur taluk on Oct.19.

Addressing a press meet yesterday, Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Parashuram said that the arrested are 26-year-old Praveen of Shivapura, 23-year-old M.N. Niranjan of Matadadoddi, 19-year-old K.P. Karthik of Kyathaghatta, 23-year-old J. Ananthkumar of Indira Colony in Mandya and 20-year-old K.P. Sachin Gowda of Sahukar Channegowda Layout.

During interrogation, the Police came to know that accused Praveen alias Kaddi had indulged in a fight with victim Naveen alias Kutty of K.M. Doddi during which Naveen had broken the teeth of Praveen, the SP said and added that both Praveen and Naveen had compromised and Naveen was to get Praveen treated and get him a set of teeth. 

As Naveen failed to get Praveen a new set of teeth, he (Praveen) wanted to take revenge on Naveen and hatched a plot to eliminate Naveen.

On Oct.19 at about 11 am, Praveen, who came with his accomplices on bikes to Halagur Circle in K.M. Doddi, attacked Naveen with machetes, killed him and fled from the spot.

K.M. Doddi Police, who had registered a case, conducted an operation and arrested all the five accused on Oct.22.

Additional SP Dr. V.J. Shobharani, Dy.SP H.M. Shylendra, Circle Inspector M. Manjunath and staff M. Srinivas, V. Nataraju, P. Suresh, Srikantaiah, Premkumar, Shivakumar, Avinash, Narasimhamurthy, Nagesh, Ravikiran and Lokesh were present during the press meet.

After the press meet, the accused were to be brought to the crime spot for mahazar and as the news of K.M. Doddi Police bringing all the accused to the spot spread, a large number of people had assembled near Halagur Circle yesterday to have a glimpse of the accused and the Police had a tough time in controlling the crowd.
