Folk artiste Kamsale Kumaraswamy no more

Mysuru: Kamsale Kumaraswamy (74) of ‘Kolumande Jangumadeva’ fame from the Kannada film ‘Janumada Jodi’ and a resident of Bandikeri, passed away yesterday in city.

He leaves behind sons Kamsale Ravichandra and Kamsale Madev Kumar, daughters Roopa and Parvathi and a host of relatives and friends.

Kumaraswamy had composed the Kamsale musical dance sequence for the song ‘Kolumande Jangumadeva’ for Shivarajkumar starrer Kannada film ‘Janumada Jodi’ and had performed in over 600 Kamsale dance shows worldwide.

He was also the recipient of District Kannada Rajyotsava Award, Janapada Academy Award for the year 2020, Janapada Loka Award, Janapada Prapancha Award given by Kannada Janapada Parishat, Kamsale Janapada Ratna Award by Kannada Balaga and Kamsale Kanteerava Award by Kannada Kranthi Dala.

He has been honoured by various organisations, mutts and associations including Murugha Mutt and Adichunchanagiri Mutt.

Last rites were held at the foot of Chamundi Hill this morning.
