Madikeri: Sridharamurthy (59), Deputy Director, Kodagu District Department of Food and Civil Supplies, collapsed and died at his Office in Madikeri yesterday.

The Deputy Director, who arrived at the Office at about 11.30 yesterday morning to take part in a meeting, sat on a chair during which he collapsed and fell from the chair.

The staff immediately rushed him to a hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

A native of Chitradurga district, Sridharamurthy had taken charge as the Deputy Director of Kodagu District Food and Civil Supplies Department 28 days ago.

Last rites were held in Chitradurga today, according to family sources.
