Footpath encroachment by vendors in Hebbal

July 1, 2025

Sir,

The footpath from CITB Choultry upto Leo Janani Apartment in Hebbal has been encroached upon by panipuri and other fast food vendors, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road and risk their lives, especially during peak hours.

Now, with the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) taking up drainage and stormwater drain repair work along with footpath reconstruction, it would be a welcome move if railings are installed while re-laying the footpath. This would prevent vendors from occupying the space again.

The spot where the vendors are currently operating — opposite the Choultry — seems ideal, as it is away from the main road and does not disrupt traffic flow.

We hope the authorities will take necessary and timely action, keeping in mind the safety and convenience of pedestrians.
