Footpath encroachment clearance drive continues

57 cases registered, 46 notices served, Rs. 8,800 fine collected in three days

Mysore/Mysuru: Acting tough on footpath encroachers in city, Mysuru City Traffic Police, who have taken up footpath encroachment clearance drives since about a week in city, have continued the drive.

In the past three days, the Traffic Police personnel attached to Narasimharaja (NR), Siddarthanagar, Devaraja and V.V. Puram Traffic Police Stations, conducted the drives on Kabir Road, Male Mahadeshwara Road, Government House Road, Hunsur Road, Hinkal Main Road, Vijayanagar Water Tank Road, Thyagaraja Road, Nelson Mandela Road and at Halladakeri and have registered a total of 57 cases, besides serving 46 notices and collecting Rs. 8,800 spot fines from the footpath encroachers. 

July 25: Traffic Cops registered 10 cases under Karnataka Police Act and 5 under Indian Motor Vehicle Act besides serving 15 notices and collecting Rs. 5,000 spot fines. 

July 26: 14 cases were registered under Karnataka Police Act and  5 under Indian Motor Vehicle Act. Six notices were served and Rs. 3,200 spot fines collected.

July 27: Traffic Police have  registered 17 cases under Karnataka Police Act and 6 cases under Indian Motor Vehicle Act besides serving 25 notices and collecting Rs. 600 as spot fines.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and ACP (Traffic) S.E. Gangadharaswamy guided Inspectors and staff of various Traffic Police Stations in the encroachment clearance drives.

City Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta said that such drives against footpath encroachers will continue in city and legal action would be initiated against all those who are found encroaching footpaths in city.
