Forest Officer hosts lunch for Mahouts, Kavadis

Mysore/Mysuru: Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) of Mysuru Circle T. Heeralal, yesterday, hosted lunch for Mahouts and Kavadis of all five Dasara elephants for fulfilling their responsibilities successfully during Jumboo Savari held on Oct. 26 in Mysore Palace premises.

Usually, Mahouts, Kavadis and their family members are taken to Ranganathittu, where lunch would be organised for them every year. But due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic this year, Mahouts and Kavadis were instructed not to leave the Palace premises and hence, the lunch was organised in the Palace premises.

Heeralal said that the role of Mahouts and Kavadis was very important for successful Jumboo Savari and added that the Dasara elephants have fulfilled their responsibilities very well making this year’s Dasara a success.

As the Dasara elephants would be going back to their respective camps, the lunch for Mahouts and Kavadis was organised.

Project Tiger Director Jagathram, Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) M.G. Alexander, Assistant Conservators of Forests (ACFs) Seema and Roshini, Range Forest Officer (RFO) K. Surendra, DRFO Puttamadegowda, Veterinarian Dr. D.N. Nagaraj and others were present.
