Bengaluru: Even as the BJP national leadership is toiling hard to bring unity among the State BJP leaders, dissension has surfaced once again in the State BJP unit over the formation of Booth-level Committees. A meeting to discuss the issue was scheduled to take place at the BJP office here on Saturday for which State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa, State party in-charge Muralidhar Rao, RSS leader B.L. Santosh, BJP Core Committee Members Jagadish Shettar, K.S. Eshwarappa, R. Ashok, Govind Karjol, Prahlad Joshi and other leaders were asked to take part.
Other leaders such as Nirmal Kumar Surana, M.B. Bhanuprakash, Shivayogi Swamy, Girish Patil, M.B. Nandish and others who had identified themselves with anti-Yeddyurappa camp too were asked to attend the meeting. But some leaders who had identified themselves with B.L. Santosh camp, were reportedly asked on Friday night not to attend the meeting, following which they abstained from Saturday’s meeting.
This development clearly exposed the cracks in the State BJP unit, according to sources.
The BJP had formed 56,000 Booth-level Committees across the State under the leadership of State party Gen. Secretary Arun Kumar, in order to strengthen the party at the grassroot level. But the message to some leaders asking them to stay away from Saturday’s meeting is said to be the handiwork of Santosh, the sources added.
It may be mentioned here that BJP National President Amit Shah had recently directed Santosh, who was party in-charge in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, to take active part in Karnataka party organisation too.
