Former CRPF woman Jawan ends life

Somwarpet: A former CRPF woman Jawan ended her life by consuming poison at her residence in Kooti village of the taluk.

Devaki (46), wife of Chandrashekar, also a CRPF Jawan serving at Chhattisgarh, is the deceased. Devaki is said to have consumed poison at her Kooti village residence on Friday night, following which her husband Chandrashekar, who was on leave and present at the village, rushed her to a private Hospital in Mysuru, where she breathed her last on Sunday night, it is learnt.

The reason for her taking the extreme step is yet to be known, according to Somwarpet Police who have registered a case in this regard. She leaves behind her husband and two sons.

Devaki who joined CRPF in 1995, served at Kashmir, Gujarat, Delhi, Bihar and other States before taking voluntary retirement two years ago.

Post retirement, she took to agriculture. She was awarded ‘Pancharatna Award’ by JCI Somwarpet Pushpagiri at a function organised as part of Women’s Day celebration recently.
