May 21, 2022

Mysuru: Former Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) President S.R. Govindu has stressed on the need for construction of ‘Janata Theatres’ in the State in order to facilitate even the poor to watch films at low priced tickets.

Addressing a press meet at a private hotel here yesterday, Govindu, who is also a film producer, said that with multiplexes mushrooming not only in the State but also in the entire country, single screen theatres built decades ago were shutting down. Maintaining that single screen theatres screened films at affordable ticket prices to the common man, he said that the Government was sent a proposal some time ago on the establishment of ‘Janata Theatres’ so that the common man can watch films at affordable rates. The Government has responded positively to the proposal, he added.
