Mysuru:  The Foundation Day lecture is arranged by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDM-IMD), Mysuru, in the month of July every year to coincide with the anniversary of the Institute. Eminent persons are invited to deliver talks in this lecture series. 

This year, the Foundation Day lecture will be delivered by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, former Chairman, Space Commission and former Chairman, ISRO July 19 (Friday) at 11 am at SDM-IMD auditorium, Chamundi Hill Road.

Profile: Dr. Radhakrishnan is a distinguished alumnus of Government Engineering College-Thrissur, IIM-Bangalore, and IIT Kharagpur. He started his career in ISRO in 1971 at Space Science and Technology Centre (presently known as Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre) and became the chief of India’s space programme in 2009.  He was Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, ISRO.

Under Dr. Radhakrishnan’s leadership, ISRO achieved 37 space missions and many historical accomplishments in space research. At present he is Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIT Kharagpur and Honorary Distinguished Advisor to Department of Space/ISRO. 

Known for Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions, he has won several major awards as Vikram Sarabhai Memorial Award, P.C. Chandra Purashkar, Ernst and Young Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Y. Nayudamma Memorial Award, K.R. Ramanathan Memorial Gold Medal of Indian Geophysical Union, QIMPRO Platinum Standard (business) 2018.  He received the Padma Bhushan for contributions to Science and Engineering. He has been conferred with Honorary Doctorates from 12 Universities.  

He is also an author, an accomplished vocalist (Karnatak music) and Kathakali artiste.
