Kollegal: Former  Kollegal MLA  S. Jayanna (72)  passed away here this noon at a Private Hospital  following heart attack.

Jayanna, who was a bachelor, was  elected twice from Kollegal (SC) Assembly segment — once on a JD(S) ticket in 1994 and the second time on a Congress ticket in 2013.

Currently, he was serving as the Chairman of Karnataka State Warehousing Corporation.

Jayanna was considered close to CM Siddaramaiah.

Jayanna had built a new house at Kollegal recently and CM Siddaramaiah had unveiled the name plaque of the house during his visit to the town only on Saturday last. The house warming ceremony was scheduled to take place on Dec.12 and Jayanna’s death has come just two days before the ceremony.

Last rites will be held tomorrow, according to family sources.
