Madikeri: Former Minister and Senior JD(S) leader M.C. Nanaiah who is upset over the party for being sidelined, will join the Congress in the presence of AICC President Rahul Gandhi at a public rally in Mysuru on Mar. 25.
Nanaiah who had stayed away from JD(S) activities for the past couple of years following differences with State JD(S) President and former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy was said to be all the more annoyed when the JD(S) declared the candidature of B.A. Jivijaya from Madikeri assembly segment.
Even as Nanaiah was reportedly feeling discomfort in the JD(S), Chief Minister Siddharamaiah who wanted to take advantage, met Nanaiah, who was also his Cabinet colleague in the erstwhile Janata Dal government, during the Congress party’s Janashirvada rally held at Madikeri in January and is said to have extended him an invitation to join the Congress.
Following the CM’s invitation, Nanaiah who held several meetings with his followers, had however not taken any decision on his political future.
But now, Nanaiah after deciding to join the Congress, is all set to join the party at Rahul Gandhi’s public rally in Mysuru on Sunday.
