Former MP Vishwanath lashes out at KPCC for issuing notice

Lashing out at party leaders for serving a notice to him through the CLP (Congress Legislature Party) chief whip, when he was not a member of neither of the Houses, senior Congress leader and former MP A.H. Vishwanath has said that the notice was an embarrassment for him as he was a loyal party worker for over four decades.

Addressing party workers at a meeting convened by him in the wake of the notice, at a private hotel in city yesterday, Vishwanath said that after finding the notice in the post-box of his house, he called on KPCC, when KPCC General Secretary N.S. Bosaraju sent him a Whatsapp message, seeking explanation as to why action must not be initiated against him for his (Vishwanath) reported derogatory remarks against the party high command including AICC President Sonia Gandhi, Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders.

Reacting strongly to the Whatsapp notice, Vishwanath said that the KPCC leaders must realise that the Congress party is a people’s movement and Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other leaders were only caretakers of the party.

Reiterating that the people form the backbone of the party, Vishwanath said that his remarks does not amount to any anti-party activity and all his statements were in the better interests of the party.

Claiming that the party has sent notices to him and two other senior Congress leaders- C.K. Jaffer Shariff and Janardhan Poojary at a time when Nanjangud and Gundlupet bypolls are round the corner, the former MP maintained that issuing notice was an insult to him as he was a loyal worker of the party.

Later, the party leaders and workers who attended the meeting said that they would stand by whatever stance that the former MP takes in respect of the notice served to him.

Former Mayor Modamani, former MUDA Chairman P. Govindaraj, Ex-Mayors Dakshina Murthy and Pushpalatha T.B. Chikkanna, Corporators Prashanth Gowda, Suhail Baig, and Sunil and others were present.
