March 20, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: Four persons have been booked on the charge of conning a job aspirant of Rs. 28 lakh, at Narasimharaja (NR) Police Station in the city. Besides, one of the accused has allegedly issued a murder threat to complainant for demanding his money back.

Santosh Kumar, aged 45 years and a resident of J.P. Nagar in Bengaluru, is the victim.

The accused are identified as Hanumanthu of Channapatna, Madhusudan, Shashikumar and Ranganath of Mysuru.

Hanumanthu, who knew Santosh, told the latter about his friend Madhusudan who had successfully brokered Government jobs for many. Santosh, who came to Mysuru, met Madhusudan with a request to do the favour for his niece Kavya. Madhusudan assured to secure the job of Senior Assistant for Kavya at Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), Mysuru and demanded Rs. 28 lakh to do the favour.

On May 30, 2023, Santosh allegedly gave Rs. 14 lakh to Madhusudan, but he insisted on Rs. 10 lakh more. He had reportedly told Santosh that, Kavya has to undergo medical test, following which she will receive the offer letter. To substantiate his case, Madhusudan arranged medical test of Kavya at Ambedkar Medical College in Bengaluru and sent a person to accompany her.

He (Madhusudan) told Santosh about Kavya landing a job at KPTCL Office in Kuvempunagar, Mysuru and took her to Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited office at FTS Circle in NR Mohalla here. Prior to that, Madhusudan had collected the remaining amount of Rs. 4 lakh from Santosh.

At NR Mohalla CESC office, a person who was introduced by Madhusudan as Ranganath, Accounts Officer, issued a fake job letter of Kavya and gave a cell phone number of Shashikumar, who allegedly told them to report to duty at KPTCL office in Kuvempunagar.

However, in the later days, Shashikumar started avoiding Santosh over phone, giving some other lame reasons and finally stopped taking his calls.

When Santosh called Madhusudan, the latter allegedly issued a murder threat warning the former not to call him again and told him to forget about the money he had given for the job. He also told Santosh that his niece has not got any job.

Following the murder threat, Santosh has lodged a complaint at NR Police Station.
