Four-day lecture series on Rishis begins

August 27, 2019

Mysuru:  A four-day lecture series on ‘Pracheena Rishi-Munigala Antaranga-Bahiranga’ organised by Sanatana Sabha commenced last evening at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha on JLB Road here.

Inaugurating the programme, Orator Chakravarthy Sulibele opined that youngsters should be aware of Indian Civilisation and heritage which have a history of over 5,000 years. He advised youth not to accept film stars and politicians as icons but to get motivated by Rishis.

He recalled that the arduous penance undertaken by Vishwamitra Rishi should be a guideline for younger generation to achieve any goal. He said that the achievements of Shankaracharya, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda and other great personalities should be studied in depth.

Continuing, Sulibele said that nature of people may change with time but not the essence of Vedas and Upanishads. He regretted that youngsters are not made to understand the intricacies and ancient scriptures for various reasons. He observed that religious festivals are being just celebrated now without knowing the significance of any rituals performed. He added that when Westeners identify something important in Indian rituals, people suddenly become active to probe the issue.

Scholar Dr. H.V. Nagaraja Rao, KSOU Professor Dr. Jyoti Shankar, Sanatana Sabha President N.S. Dwarkanath, Karnataka Muktaka Sahitya Academy Chairman S. Ramprasad, Secretary Vid. G.N. Bhat and others were present.
