Four injured as KSRTC bus swerves into roadside drain

Madikeri: Four passengers of a KSRTC bus sustained injuries, when the bus in which they were travelling slipped into a roadside drain after the driver lost control of the bus and swerved the bus to his left side. The mishap took place near Koinadu on Monday night.

The bus was proceeding towards Mangaluru from Madikeri and when the bus neared Koinadu, the driver suddenly noticed a lorry in front and in a bid to avoid ramming into the lorry, he swerved the bus to his left side resulting in the bus slipping into the roadside drain.

The mishap took place at about 2 am and it is learnt that the driver was unable to see the lorry from a distance following heavy rain and fog. The front portion of the bus has been damaged. Four passengers and the bus driver sustained minor injuries.

Koinadu residents and Police personnel shifted the injured to a hospital in Sullia. Madikeri Rural Police have registered a case.
