Mysuru: On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day (July 28), Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru, has organised a free Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C screening for the general public from July 23 to 28.
“Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C are viral infections which cause damage to the liver and can lead to both acute and chronic disease. These viruses are highly contagious and are transmitted by transfusion of infected blood, infected needles, unprotected sex or from an infected mother to child. Hepatitis B and C screening is done by testing a small sample of blood for antigens and antibodies. Hence, our effort is directed towards early diagnosis, regular follow-up, relevant treatment and mass vaccination,” said Dr. Anoop Alva, Consultant Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Columbia Asia Hospital, Mysuru.
The week-long screening will conclude with a Public Forum discussion on the topic “Hepatitis B and C myths and facts” on July 28 at the hospital premises from 3 pm to 4 pm. For details call Ph: 0821-3989896 or 3322333 or WhatsApp: 9620389896.
