Frequent breakdowns of KSRTC buses in Mysuru city

January 9, 2024

Sir,

The condition of KSRTC buses operating in and around Mysuru city has significantly worsened, with frequent breakdowns leading to passengers being stranded. This decline in service quality is attributed to a combination of factors, primarily overcrowding due to the implementation of free travel for women by the current Karnataka Government and inadequate maintenance.

Free travel has likely contributed to the overcrowding issue, placing an additional strain on the buses. The resultant strain, coupled with poor maintenance, is a key factor in the increasing number of breakdowns.

This could be due to fund constraints as the KSRTC may find it difficult to replace vehicle parts and service the vehicles periodically which has resulted in buses going off the roads. The Government seems to have no clue how to overcome this pathetic situation.
