Fresh survey soon for street vendor ID cards

June 14, 2026

Mysuru: Karnataka Legislature’s Subordinate Legislation Committee Chairman and MLA S.R. Srinivas interacted with street vendors near Dufferin Clock Tower and assured them of steps to address their concerns.

Speaking to the media after the interaction recently, Srinivas said the Committee was reviewing the issues faced by street vendors and had directed the MCC to take measures to protect their interests.

On the delay in issuing vendor identification cards, Srinivas said a fresh tender had been floated to conduct the survey, as the agency previously assigned the task had failed to complete the work properly. He directed the MCC Commissioner to ensure that all eligible vendors receive their identity cards.

“The Government provides financial assistance and facilities, but how vendors utilise them to improve their businesses is their choice. Our responsibility is to ensure that basic facilities reach everyone. If there are gaps, a transparent system will be put in place to ensure that benefits reach all eligible beneficiaries,” Srinivas said.

He added that a meeting with officials would be convened soon to streamline the identification process and ensure greater transparency in the distribution of Government benefits.

The inspection was attended by committee members and MLCs T.A. Sharavana and K. Shivakumar, MLAs G.D. Harish Gowda (Hunsur), Darshan Dhruvanarayan (Nanjangud) and K. Harishgowda (Chamaraja), along with Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, MCC Commissioner Sheikh Tanveer Asif and senior officials from various departments.
