Friends kill youth inside graveyard

Mysuru:  A group of friends got a 22-year-old youth drunk and murdered him last night at a graveyard in Giriyabovipalya near Raghavendranagar in city. And in a swift action, the Police arrested two of the accused and have spread a dragnet to nab the remaining accused who are absconding.

According to Nazarbad Police, Chinnaswamy alias Babu, son of Saverappa and a resident of Raghavendranagar was an employee of a vehicle service station. Yesterday after work, his friends Pavan, Manoj, Premsagar and Prajwal called him for a drink.

They gathered at Giriyabovipalya graveyard and began drinking. During the drunken stupor, the friends picked up a fight with Chinnaswamy at around 10 pm and took turns to assault him with PVC pipes and beer bottles. The assault was so severe that Chinnaswamy breathed his last.

Today morning, some passers-by informed the Nazarbad Police about the dead body in the graveyard. Inspector Mahadevaswamy and team rushed to the spot and conducted a mahazar. The Police then arrested Pavan and Arjun, who were seen along with Chinnaswamy yesterday. During interrogation, Pavan and Arjun confessed to the crime and the Police said that Chinnaswamy was murdered for silly reasons.
