Futile attempt to snatch gold chain at Vijayanagar’

September 2, 2024

Mysuru: Amidst intensified foot patrols by the Police, a chain-snatching attempt was reported in Vijayanagar last evening.

At around 6.30 pm, 57-year-old Latha was walking home with her daughter at Mahadeshwara Layout near the Vijayanagar Water Tank when two bike-borne miscreants approached her, and the pillion rider attempted to snatch her gold chain.

Alerted by the sudden attack, Latha resisted and managed to grip a part of the chain. Despite the criminal’s desperate attempts to break it, she held the chain firm. Latha, holding a bag in one hand and her house keys in the other, struggled to retain the chain, but in the tussle, the house keys fell into the hands of the criminal.

Realising the attempt had failed, the miscreants sped away before bystanders could rush to her help. A case has been registered at the Vijayanagar Police Station, and the Police are examining CCTV footage from nearby shops and homes to identify the culprits.
