Ganapathy Swamiji inaugurates Spiral Enteroscopy facility at Narayana Multispeciality Hospital

Mysore/Mysuru: In line with its vision to ensure access to the latest diagnostic and treatment facilities for all, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital (NMH),  Mysuru, has introduced Spiral Enteroscopy, the most innovative diagnostic modality to identify and treat disorders of the small intestine.

The facility was inaugurated by Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji recently in the presence of Dr. M.N. Ravi, Clinical Director, Dr. Vijay Singh, Regional Director-South, Dr. Satheesh Rao and  Pavan Kumar, Facility Director, NMH, Mysuru.

A minimally invasive technique, Spiral Enteroscopy allows Physicians to enter into areas in the bowel and intestine that are difficult to access through conventional endoscopy methods.

It helps in better diagnosis of small intestinal lesions and in diagnosis of anaemia of unknown causes, abdominal pain evaluation. It is also useful in treating strictures of small bowel and removal of polyps without surgery. With this facility, the doctors can identify bleeding arising from small bowel and it can be treated without surgery.

Elaborating about the facility, Dr. A.K. Satheesh Rao, Consultant Medical Gastroenterology, Narayana Multispeciality Hospital said, “When it comes to the digestive system that consists of bowel, large intestine and small intestine, small bowel problems are difficult to identify, but now because of Spiral Enteroscopy, it is possible. We at Narayana Multispeciality Hospital want to ensure quality diagnostic and treatment facilities are made available for our patients and the setting up of Spiral Enteroscopy is an endeavour in this direction.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. M.N. Ravi, the Clinical Director of the Hospital said, “Access to small bowel had been difficult, being long, convoluted and difficult to reach. Spiral Enteroscopy has been a paradigm shift and is state-of-the-art technology for small bowel diagnostics and therapeutics. As part of its initiative in bringing the latest advances in medical technology as affordable solutions, NMH has introduced and dedicated this important part of the armamentarium of modern GI Department to the people,  a first in Mysuru.”
