Renowned poet Dr. Latha Rajashekar highlights adverse impact of human actions on environment

Mysuru: Stressing on the importance to raise awareness about environmental conservation, renowned poet Dr. Latha Rajashekar stated  that the future generations may condemn us if we fail to liberate mother earth from pollution.

She was speaking at the ‘Gandhi Sadbhavana’ and ‘Adamya Chetana’ Awards presentation ceremony, organised by Adamya Rangashaale at Sri Kuvempu Rangamandira Vivekananda Pre-University College premises at Jayalakshmipuram in city recently.

Highlighting the impact of human actions on the environment, Dr. Latha Rajashekar emphasised on the substantial suffering caused by air pollution. She cited the example of Delhi which is grappling with severe air pollution and mentioned that Bengaluru faces similar challenges with daily traffic congestion. 

The poetess characterised environmental pollution and ecological destruction as global issues, urging everyone to contribute towards safeguarding our fragile environment.

Expressing concern about the escalating issue of plastic waste, she underscored the non-regenerative nature of plastic waste, contributing significantly to pollution. She underlined the critical need to prevent industrial wastes from entering water-bodies, highlighting the far-reaching consequences of water pollution on human lives, as well as aquatic animals and plants.

 On the occasion, ‘Mysuru Mithra’ columnist G.L. Tripurantaka, Founder-Secretary of Aniketana Educational Institutions in Mandya Dr. Ramalingaiah and President of Punyakoti Seva Trust Hanumantesh received ‘Gandhi Sadbhavana’ Award. 

Additionally, H.S. Pranusha, a native of Mudigere studying in Mysuru, R. Kiran from Ramanagara and S.M. Ananya from Santebachahalli in K.R. Pet Taluk were honoured with ‘Adamya Chetana’ Award. 

 G.L. Tripurantaka expressed concern about society’s increasing preoccupation with social networking and mobile phone apps. He urged people to break free from such addictions and engage in theatre, cultural and social activities. 

Tripurantaka highlighted the responsibility of the current generation to pass on these meaningful activities to the next generation, emphasising that the Gandhi Sadbhavana Award heightened his commitment to the society and motivated him to contribute more to literature.

The event concluded with staging of ‘Rangannana Rampaata,’ a children’s play based on Panchatantra stories by students of Adamya Rangashaale. 

Hon. Secretary of Adamya Rangashaale Satish Jawaregowda,  former Kannada and Culture Department Deputy Director M.G. Sadanandaiah, NSS Officer at JSS College of Arts, Science and Commerce N. Santosh Kumar and Founder-Secretary of Adamya Rangashaale Chandru Mandya were also present at the awards ceremony.
