Gang-rape case shifted to Hullahalli Station

February 13, 2019

Mysuru: The Nazarbad Police have transferred the alleged gang-rape case to Hullahalli Police Station in Nanjangud Taluk.

A 20-year-old girl, a call centre employee and a resident of J.P. Nagar, had complained at the Nazarbad Police that last week her friend Chirag and three others took turns to rape her at a secluded spot on T. Narasipur Road.

She had called Chirag on the night of Feb. 3 and asked him to come and pick her up from the entrance of Chamundi Hill at Thavarekatte Arch Gate at around 9.30 pm. She told the Police that she had been there to have pani-puri and as it was dark, she had sought a drop to home from Chirag.

The girl alleged that after picking her up, Chirag drove the vehicle for some distance and then stopped where three of his friends got into the car. Later, they took her to a secluded spot and raped her.

Narrating her ordeal, the girl, in her Police complaint, has alleged that Chirag and friends then allegedly injured her on various parts of her body using a blade. Based on the complaint, Police arrested Chirag from Bengaluru on Feb. 9.

Chirag is a resident of Madhugiri taluk in Tumakuru district. He was arrested at Bengaluru Airport and has now been sent to judicial custody. In his statement to the Police, Chirag admitted that he had raped the girl but none of his friends were involved in the crime.

As his statement and the complaint filed by the girl differed on the number of people involved in the crime, the Police are now awaiting the medical test report.

The medical test was conducted on the girl as soon as the crime was reported.

Nazarbad Police conducted the mahazar of the crime scene and has transferred the case to Hullahalli Police Station as the crime was committed in that Station’s jurisdiction.
