Gates to be installed at all four entry points to Chamundi Hill

Mysuru: The KR Police have decided to clamp down on alleged illegal activities going on in the Chamundi Hill, especially during night times. Even the Deputy Commissioner had approved the proposal to install the gates and CC TV cameras. As a step in this direction, the Police have started the work of installing the gates at all the four entrances to the Hill, to ban free entry of vehicles.

There have been lot of complaints from residents of the Hill and general public about the illegal activities and the revelry the youngsters indulge in at night.

Huge gates: Huge gates are being installed at the entrance to the Hill near Tavarekatte, Daivi Vana, Helipad Road and Uttanahalli Road. The work began last week and will be completed by the end of this month. The CC TV cameras will also be installed at each gate.

Timings for gate closure: The gates of the temple atop Chamundi Hill closes at 9 pm and by 9.30 pm, except the residents of the Hill, the public will be asked to leave the premises and all the gates at the entrance will be closed at 10 pm.

The entry after 10 pm will be completely banned for public. Who are allowed: A survey will be undertaken to find out how many people live atop the Hill and each one of them will be issued identity card. Those who possess ID card will be allowed entry even after 10 pm.

Muzrai temple funds: The gates are being installed with the funds from Muzrai Department and Chamundi Development grants, said KR Police Inspector Prakash, to Star of Mysore.
