Mysore/Mysuru: As part of the birth anniversary of former Chief of Army Staff Gen. K.S. Thimayya, Mysuru District Unit of Akhila Karnataka Ex-Servicemen Association has organised a programme to place cement water tanks at Chamundi Hill in city to feed birds and animals tomorrow (Mar. 31) at 8 am.
K.P. Diwakar, President of Mysuru District Unit of Akhila Karnataka Ex-Servicemen Association, told media persons at Pathrakarthara Bhavana in the city yesterday that “Following the scorching heat in the State, the animals are struggling for water. Hence, we have organised an event called ‘Vanyajeevi Jalapatre’ to quench the thirst of birds and animals atop the Chamundi Hill.”
“As many as 20 cement tanks that can hold six to seven litres of water will be placed after identifying the suitable places atop the hill. It will be handed over to Forest Department and Gram Panchayat. Every Sunday, the members of Ex-Servicemen Association will fill water to the tanks,” he added.
Vice-President of the Association Neelakanta Kumarashetty, members Rajini Subbaiah, Lakshmi, Komala and others were present.
