GFA Annual Sports Fest-2018: Cricket Tourney held for a cause

GFA (Genius Friends Association) Charitable Trust, a group of like minded undergraduate and graduate students of the city, in association with Mysore Elite Round Table (MERT)-256, had organised the 9th GFA Sports Fest in the memory of late M. Gautham, proud member of GFA.

Sports Fest, encompassing Charity Cricket Tournament, was inaugurated by M.S. Ravindra, former Ranji Player and renowned Cricket coach from Mysuru.

Dr. C.N. Ravi Kumar, Principal, MyCEM, Prof. M.J. Sampath Kumar, former Professor, NIE,  Prof. S. Gayathri, Professor, SJCE, Prem, Chairman, Mysore Elite Round Table 256 and S. Vijendra, Hon. Member, GFA, were the chief guests.

Dr. S. Ravi Kumar, President, GFA, presided over the event.

The members of GFA, MERT-256 and NYCC, who participated in the 9th GFA Sports Fest by contributing towards the noble cause.

Like every year, this year also the Sports Fest was centred around a theme to support and motivate talented sports persons to participate in the State, National and International sports events. Further, the students, scholars, academicians, doctors and practitioners actively took part in the Sports Fest while contributing to the charity.

Three cricket teams, namely Mysuru Warriors [a representation of Namma Yadavagiri Cricket Club (NYCC)], JC Riders and Round Tablers, consisting of blend of youth and experienced, participated in the competition.

At the end, it was NYCC who won the Cricket Tournament.

Notably, the proceedings collected from the Sports Fest was presented to a sports prodigy and trainer T.S. Ravi to encourage him and provide a helping hand to him to train the talented sports enthusiasts, specifically who come from poor background.
