Girl sets herself ablaze

May 14, 2018

Nanjangud: An 18-year-old girl reportedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her house in Channapattana village near Hullahalli in the taluk on  Saturday morning.

The deceased girl has been identified as Pavithra, daughter of Kempamma. Pavithra had passed her 2nd PUC exams with distinction recently.

Pavithra, who poured kerosene on her before setting herself ablaze when the family members were away, was noticed by the neighbours who rushed her to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, but she breathed her last yesterday morning after failing to respond to the treatment.

Meanwhile, one Koosaiah, in his complaint to Hullahali Police, has stated that Pavithra was suffering from frequent stomach pain and unable to bear the pain, she (Pavitha) had committed suicide.

But there are rumours that a youth from the same village was harassing Pavithra since a few months and unable to bear the harassment, she has committed suicide which the Police have rubbished.
