Mysuru: A student of Yuvaraja’s College in city attempted to stab his fellow girl student in the College on Friday after she declined his proposal for love. In the melee, the girl student sustained cut injuries on her cheeks, while her friend who tried to save her from the attack too reportedly sustained injures.

Rohit, 21, of Gundlupet and a third B.Sc student of the college, proposed to his fellow girl student on Thursday. But the girl declined his love and suggested to be just friends.

Enraged by the girl’s rejection, Rohit attempted to stab her on the neck with a blade after all other students had left the classroom on Friday afternoon. But the girl succeeded in escaping from stabbing.

Another girl, who tried to save the girl, also sustained injuries on her hand. Later, Rohit too inflicted injuries on his hand, according to the Police. Rohit was treated as an outpatient at a city hospital and was taken into custody by the Police for questioning. The two injured girls are being treated at a private hospital.

Lakshmipuram Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
