Melukote: A youth, who was pestering a girl student to marry him, allegedly kidnapped the girl with the help of his friends and the girl, who escaped from her captors has lodged a complaint with Melukote Police with the help of her parents.

The girl, who is pursuing her final year B.Sc course at a college in Mysuru, was being pestered by the youth, identified as Kumar alias Kuduka of Narahalli village, to marry him since many days. Kumar and his three friends have gone absconding.

The incident: On Monday, the girl student left for the college to write her Biology exam and was walking from Singrigowdanakoppal village to Bellale at about 9.30 am when Kumar, along with his friends Paramesh alias Rani of Singrigowdanakoppal, Shivakumar alias Kappe of Cheekanahalli and others, took her in a car to Madikeri.

After reaching Madikeri, they made her stay at a homestay there and the accused went out to bring money for the marriage expenditure. Seeing the opportunity, the girl began to scream attracting the attention of the workers who rushed to her help.

They summoned Kumar and his friends, took them to task, thrashed them, took their photographs on their mobile phones, told them to take the girl to her home safely and took their mobile phone numbers and sent them in their car at about 4 pm.
