Mysuru: Mix-ups in online orders are not uncommon, but a city resident was in for a shock when the glucometer he had ordered was replaced with women’s innerwear, costing him Rs. 800.
The person who received the wrong parcel is District Chutuku Sahitya Parishat Founder Dr. M.G.R. Urs.
Dr. Urs said he received repeated WhatsApp messages offering a ‘SugarSense Smart Precision Monitor’ (Pack of 2) glucometer for Rs. 800. Believing the offer to be genuine, he placed an order with the cash-on-delivery option.
Three days later, a delivery boy arrived at his house, handed over the parcel, collected Rs. 800 and left. However, when Dr. Urs opened the parcel, he was shocked to find women’s innerwear instead of the glucometer.
He immediately called the delivery boy and informed him about the mix-up. The delivery boy reportedly told him that he was only responsible for delivering the parcel addressed to him.
When Dr. Urs said he would lodge a Police complaint, the delivery boy reportedly told him to go ahead and disconnected the call. Dr. Urs is yet to lodge a Police complaint in this regard.
Consumers need to exercise caution while ordering products online, particularly from unsolicited messages and offers. It is advisable to check the parcel and confirm that the ordered product has been delivered before making payment, wherever possible.
