Mysore/Mysuru: Responding sharply to derogatory remarks made against him by Maddur MLA K.M. Uday, former MP Prathap Simha hit back, alleging that Uday won his MLA seat by entertaining people with alcohol and card games at a Goa casino.
Taking strong exception to Uday’s comments, Simha said, “I did not become an MP by serving drinks and playing cards with people in a casino.” He further alleged that the MLA’s statements sounded like they were made “under the influence at a casino table.”
Mocking Uday’s understanding of public discourse, Simha remarked, “It seems he cannot tell the difference between a casino table, a gambling table and a press conference table.”
Referring to the recent stone-pelting incident during a Ganesha procession and the subsequent unrest in Maddur, Simha added, “Had Uday been present there, the public would have given him a fitting lesson. He should first understand his responsibilities before making such reckless statements.”
