Gold worth Rs.1.6 lakh stolen from vanity bag

Mysuru: A miscreant is said to have stolen a purse kept in the vanity bag of a devotee at Chamundi Hill here recently which reportedly contained 70 gm of gold jewels worth about Rs.1.6 lakh.

The incident happened on May 14 when Thimmappa from Shivamogga had come with family members to the Hill Temple. Seeing a heavy crowd, Thimmappa’s wife Shantala was said to have passed on the vanity bag to her aunt Lalitha to secure it.

After the darshan, when they opened the vanity bag the purse containing the jewels was                  found missing.  A case has been registered at K.R. Police Station.
