MP Yaduveer fetes Golfer Pranavi Urs

Mysuru: Pranavi Urs, who became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in golf at the Asian Games was given a grand welcome by various associations in city this morning.

On her arrival in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the north gate of Mysore Palace, Pranavi Urs was felicitated by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar and various associations at a ceremony held in front of the Temple.

Speaking on the occasion, Yaduveer lauded Pranavi for her achievements and said, “Pranavi by winning the gold medal at the Asian Games had not only made the city proud but also the entire country.”

Pranavi receiving the blessings for her gold and silver medals after offering special puja at Sri Ganesha Temple located at the Mysore Palace North Gate. Pranavi’s father Sharath Chandra Urs is also seen.

He also expressed happiness over Kodagu and Mysuru athletes winning gold medals at Asian Games and wished them best for the 2028 Olympics.

Speaking to the media persons, Pranavi Urs credited her parents for her achievement adding that it was because of their support that she could win the gold medal at the Asian Games.

She also added that her next aim was to win a gold medal at the 2028 Summer Olympics to be held at Los Angeles, USA.

Later, Pranavi was taken on an open jeep procession from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple till Mysore Race Club passing through Devaraj Urs Road, JLB Road, Vani Vilas Road and M.G. Road. During the procession people were seen greeting Pranavi for her achievement.

Earlier, Pranavi accompanied by her father Sharath Chandra Raj Urs and mother Kaivalya Urs visited Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple and Ganesha Temple and offered special puja.

Nataraje Urs, Vice-President Ganesh Raje Urs, former Secretary Prathap Urs, Sri Kanteerava Narasimharaja Sports Club (Mysore Sports Club) President Ashwin R. Pallegar, Hon. Secretary S.K. Dinesh and others were present.
