Mysore/Mysuru: More than one thousand students from across Karnataka participated in the one-week free online CET crash course and mock CET organised by NIE Institute of Technology (NIEIT), Koorgalli.
Resource persons gave useful tips on how to answer CET questions quickly and complete all the questions on time. They also informed the students the topics excluded from CET this year. This information is crucial to students as admissions to engineering this year will be exclusively based on performance in CET and CET ranking will not depend upon marks scored in PUC/ 12th.
Student participants opined that this programme boosted their confidence level in facing actual CET exam.
A cash prize of Rs. 5,000 was planned for the topper of mock CET. A well-wisher of NIEIT and an alumnus of NIE Anantha Damoor, presently settled in California, USA, donated Rs. 5,000 as prize money for the second and third topper of mock CET.
Dr. Dattakumar, Hon. Treasurer, NIE Foundation, who was the chief guest at the valedictory, spoke about the advantages of on campus life, where students can interact with their friends, colleagues, peers and learn a lot as a consequence which is not feasible through the online mode. He hoped that in the near future life will come back to normal and engineering students will be able to attend classes in a blended or offline mode.
Sinchana Math from Sri Jayachamarajendra PU College, Mysuru, won the first place. Second place was tie between Ananya N. Raj from Sadvidya Composite PU College and T. Sathwick Gowda from Base PU College, Mysuru. The second tie prize was sponsored by Dr. Dattakumar. Third prize was won by R. Venkatesh from Ramaiah PU College, Bengaluru.
In his presidential remarks, Dr. Bansilal, Principal, NIEIT, thanked the resource persons for their valuable presentations and Dr. K.B. Nalini, Chief Coordinator, for excellent arrangements.
