Good Samaritans return bag, student fails to thank !

August 3, 2017

Mysuru: A student, who had lost her bag that contained a laptop and cash got it back intact, thanks to the Good Samaritans — a Police Constable and a Home Guard attached to the Lakshmipuram Police Station. They spotted the student speeding away on her two-wheeler without realising that her bag had fallen off the road.

Home Guard Gangadhar and Police Constable Kumar were on duty yesterday near the Ashoka Circle when they spotted the bag falling off from the two-wheeler that was being driven by the student who was later identified as Supriya, a resident of Alanahalli. They immediately picked up the bag and when checked, they found a laptop, ID card, a vanity bag, books and   Rs. 10,000 in cash.

Both Gangadhar and Kumar reported the incident to Inspector Manjunath, who called up Supriya’s mother after he traced her phone number from the ID Card. Supriya came to the Police Station after some time and collected the items and left the place.

After getting back the bag, Supriya, however, failed to thank Gangadhar and Kumar. “Though we managed to take the bag that had fallen by the side of the road and returned it in tact to Supriya, she did not thank us even for courtesy’s sake. Though we are hurt by her attitude, we have the satisfaction of doing our duty,” said Gangadhar and Kumar.

That is terrible. These two men, who are not paid very well, did their duty diligently. The least she (Supriya) could do is to thank them. I hope she reads this news item, returns to the station, apologizes, thanks and gives them a token reward at least. Shame on her if she does not make amends.

    • Raghavan says:

This shows how she has been brought up. In my opinion, her parents should bring her to the station and make her to apologize. This arrogant girl must have thought that it is policeman’s duty to collect the bag and ensure that she gets it back. Luckily she has not given compliant that it was not delivered at her door steps. Hats off to these two geltlemen who have said that they have done their duty.

Sir, modern generation has no values, either for money or people. Hats off to the officers for their excellent conduct. The govt must make notice of such honest officers and promote them at the appropriate time

That’s very rude on her. I would like to request Star of Mysore to post this news to her house. And let us wait to see if she returns back to station to apologise and say thanks.

  4. Prashanth says:

Unfortunately this is the culture imbibed by this generation. Also it reflects on her parents. Im sure her parents are hurt as much we readers are after reading this and come back and thank the Police men who did their duty.
One Thanks with gratitude go a long way in encohraging people like these Service men.

This is arogance and i think she is bought up like that apple from a apple tree weed from the under growth

She should be walking or travelling by bus.while giving her a two wheeler, her parents have failed to tell her to care for her belongings, and to be grateful

  7. Preeta rao says:

Reflects on her parents who have given her scooter, lap top etc,but not taught basic gratitude and manners

  8. Sunil says:

Yes’, thanking an honest person is the least one can do ! But, frankly not all people are in favor of honest people! For many, bribery is an easier option of getting it done! Also, for many of these filthy rich people cost all these valuables are like a tiny drop in the bucket! Who knows, this family may be related to or associated with DK Shivakumar and they were more concerned if their house would be raided or something!
